Can these chocolate chip cookies be made healthy?
Well, they always say sugar is sugar and always assume that all desserts are treated equal, but if you really pay attention you can find ways to make these cookies healthier for you. Here is a list of ways I make these cookies healthier for me and my family.
- Use real sugar! Read the ingredients. If it doesn’t say cane sugar on the package it could be genetically modified beet sugar. You want to stay far away from that stuff! Even the brown sugar should say cane sugar and molasses on the ingredient label.
- Use a good unbleached flour without added synthetic vitamins that don’t properly absorb into your body. I strongly recommend King Arthur Unbleached Flour.
- Use organic chocolate chips with minimum ingredients. I would use something like this.
- Use real butter! Skip right over margarine and once again READ YOUR LABELS! Did you know some butters have natural flavors in them? I couldn’t believe that! Here is a good article about natural flavoring.
- Do not use imitation vanilla. Make sure it is a pure vanilla extract like like this one.

Here are a few tips to help you make the most delicious chocolate chip cookies ever!
- Pack your cookie scoop with dough. Make sure you don’t skimp on the cookie dough balls.
- Lightly flatten the dough balls before baking. I’ve noticed this helps with the cookies baking evenly.
- Check the cookies at 8 minutes, this ensures that the cookies will not burn.
- Pull the cookies out just as the edges brown. They may look slightly doughy. Pull them out anyways! They will be so delicious!
- Use unbleached parchment paper! This is just a healthful tip.

How to make The Best Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies
- First add the softened butter, eggs, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla into a mixing bowl. Mix these ingredients until light and fluffy.
- Next add the chocolate chips and mix until completely incorporated.
- Add the Flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Start scooping packed scoops of cookie dough onto the tray, leaving space for the cookies to spread. Press your cookie dough balls slightly on the top so they resemble the store bought premade cookie dough. That way the cookies evenly spread.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes or until golden brown around the edges. The center is supposed to look a little doughy!
- Let cool or serve warm!
