Are you tired of the bread that you make crumbling every time you go to cut it? What about your sandwiches falling apart because the bread recipe you used doesn’t hold up? Then this recipe is for you! Soft and fluffy, yet durable this easy white sandwich bread is perfect for toast in the morning, garlic bread on the side, or of course sandwiches!

What makes this bread machine sandwich bread different from the others?
I believe what makes this sandwich bread different than the others is the ingredient ratios. The ingredient ratios are just right keeping your bread nice and soft, yet strong and durable. That’s why I believe it is the best sandwich bread!
Why should I be baking my own sandwich bread at home?
- No harmful ingredients. When you make your own bread at home from scratch you are avoiding so many unnecessary harmful ingredients such as azodicarbonamide which is a synthetic chemical used to bleach the flour. High fructose corn syrup which has many known harmful side effects. Canola and vegetable oil which causes hormonal problems and inflammation. Just look up a big name bread ingredient label and you’ll see!
- It tastes better. The flavor of homemade bread is just so much different than store bought bread. It is just so much better!
- It costs less. You can buy a few ingredients for $10 and make many loaves of bread! You are definitely saving money when you choose to bake your own bread.

What ingredients go into this white sandwich bread?
- Flour – preferably unbleached flour.
- Yeast – I like to use this brand.
- Water – I use filtered water. We use these filters.
- Salt – Use a good salt that has good mineral content in it.
- Sugar – You are going to need some sort of sugar whether that be honey, coconut sugar, or just plain sugar. I like to use maple syrup.
- Butter – Use a good butter with nothing but cream and salt in it. Check the ingredients!
So that’s it, 6 ingredients. It sure makes you wonder why the bread at the store has a list of possibly 50 ingredients in it! I mean..is it even bread?

Common questions about making this sandwich bread
- In what order do I put the ingredients into my bread machine? I always put the liquid ingredients in my bread machine first, then the sugar, flour, salt, yeast, and butter.
- What type of bread machine do I use? I use this bread machine. It has lasted many falls and works wonderfully! 😁
- Can I use whole wheat flour for this recipe? Yes you can, but I would add 1/4 cup less of flour than the recipe calls for. If you’re looking for a whole wheat sandwich bread recipe, here is a link to my Whole Wheat Bread recipe.
- Do I have to use unbleached flour for this recipe? No you do not. I only suggest it because when you choose unbleached flour like this one, if you look at the ingredients there are no added synthetic vitamins.
- Does the butter have to be softened? Yes, I would set the butter out the morning you plan to make this bread. If you use chunked cold butter it will not properly be mixed into the dough.

How to make this white sandwich bread
- First add the water into the bread machine mixing bowl, then add the sugar or sweetener of choice into the water.
- Add the flour next. When you go to add the yeast and salt put the yeast on one side and the salt on the other. The reason for this is because I’ve heard that the yeast and salt react to one another causing the bread not to rise properly. I’m not sure how true this is, I’ve never tried to do it the other way to find out!
- Next add the softened butter.
- Click dough setting on your bread machine and press start. Let it completely go through the dough cycle.
- Once the dough is done after about an hour and a half, dump the bowl of dough out onto the counter and split the dough into one bigger loaf and one smaller loaf. Roll the dough towards you do help form it into a loaf.
- Place the dough into a greased loaf pan and let the dough rise for at least 35 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Once heated bake the bread for 30 to 33 minutes. Until the bread is golden brown.
- Once done turn the bread out after about 10 minutes of cooling and then let the bread cool the rest of the way on a cooling rack.
- Wait until completely cooled before cutting into to avoid having a crumbly or gummy bread.
